Reset Domain Controller Password

The following steps will assist you in regaining access to a Microsoft Windows computer, including Domain Controllers.

1. Gain useful (command prompt) access to the hard drive (boot to a Windows CD, pull the drive).
2. Backup the following file:
   

   c:\windows\system32\utilman.exe

3. Change UtilMan out for a command prompt.
   

   copy c:\windows\system32\cmd.exe c:\windows\system32\utilman.exe

4. Boot to Windows as normal
5. Press Windows Key + U. Now your at a command prompt.
6. You can load Windows Explorer by typing 'explorer.exe' and reset the password via the GUI. Or you can use the following command:
   

   net user administrator NewPassword123
